Milwaukee entrepreneur Ashley Valentine opened Rooted MKE on Vliet Street in Milwaukee’s Washington Heights neighborhood in March of 2022. The multifunctional space operates as a children’s bookstore and tutoring space, with a focus on diverse representation in the books she carries and on programming for Black and brown audiences.
